دعت مديرية المرور العامة، اليوم الأحد، الجهات المعنية إلى اتخاذ إجراءات وآليات جادَّة للحد من استيراد المركبات وإنجاز طرق جديدة لاستيعاب أعداد السيارات.

وبيَّن، أن “شوارع العاصمة تستوعب بحدود 200 ألف مركبة، فيما يبلغ عدد المركبات المسجلة أكثر من أربعة ملايين مركبة، وبالتالي فإن هناك زيادة تفوق بكثير الطاقة الاستيعابية للشوارع والطرق، على الرغم من رفع العديد من السيطرات والعمل على إيجاد طرق بديلة تخفف من الزخم”.
وأوضح القيسي، أن “المديرية يقع على عاتقها تسجيل المركبات وتنظيم حركة السير في الشوارع، وليس إيجاد حلول لمشكلات الزخم المروري، لذا فإنه لا بد من وضع آلية محددة لاستيراد المركبات أو تقنينها أو تقليصها، حيث تم تقديم مقترحات بإيقاف بيع أرقام المركبات وإعادة العمل بنظام التسقيط، لكنها ما زالت بانتظار استحصال الموافقات الرسمية”.
