اختتمت جلسات مناقشة تقرير العراق الدوري الخامس المعني بالعهد الدولي الخاص بالحقوق الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية والتي استمرت ليومي ١٩ و ٢٠ / شباط / ٢٠٢٤ في مقر المفوضية العليا لحقوق الأنسان بالعاصمة جنيف.
واستهل رئيس الوفد العراقي معالي وزير العدل د.خالد شواني ، جلسات المناقشة بكلمة بين فيها التقدم المحرز في تعزيز وحماية حقوق الانسان والتدابير التي اتخذتها الحكومة العراقية لتنفيذ التوصيات التي تلقاها العراق خلال مناقشته للتقرير الرابع، مشيرا الى ماتضمنه المنهاج الحكومي من خطط واستراتيجيات لتوسيع قاعدة الحماية الأجتماعية ومكافحة الفقر ومعالجة البطالة وتوفير فرص العمل وتطوير قطاع الصحة ومكافحة الفساد واصلاح قطاعات الاقتصاد والتعليم والخدمات والبنى التحتية.
وجرى خلال الجلسة، استعراضا شاملا للتقرير ومناقشة الاستفسارات والرد على الأسئلة التي تقدم بها السيدات والسادة الخبراء اعضاء اللجنة الدولية المعنية بالحقوق الأقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية في مجلس حقوق الأنسان .
من جانبها، أثنت اللجنة الدولية على الحوار البناء من جانب الوفد العراقي والردود المناسبة من قبل السادة اعضاء الوفد العراقي واكدت تطلعاتها لمواصلة العمل مع العراق ومتابعة تنفيذ العهد الدولي المتعلق بالحقوق الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية.
وفي الختام اعرب معالي الوزير عن عميق شكره لأعضاء اللجنة، وبين أن العراق ملتزم بتنفيذ التوصيات رغم التحديات الأمنية والاقتصادية التي يواجهها، مؤكدا أن هذا الأجتماع يمثل نقطة مهمة لتسليط الضوء على التقدم الذي احرزه العراق في مجال حقوق الأنسان، كما أن الحكومة العراقية ستعمل بجهد تشاركي لتنفيذ كافة التوصيات ليتسنى لجميع المواطنين التمتع بهذه الحقوق وبشكل كامل.
