The U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission is massively clamping down on projects, particularly in the wake of the crash. Moving forward, investigations and legal challenges could hamper even the most innovative projects in the space. There’s not much room, then, for the more speculative plays to crop up and immediately soar like before. Here, Bitcoin remains a mixed bag. Credit ratings agency Moody’s says that although this year’s cryptocurrency losses have largely been contained if leverage builds again, “it could eventually unsettle the banking system, even if banks continue distancing themselves from direct interaction with the crypto economy”.
