استنادا لمعلومات كتيبة استطلاع الفرقة ١٥ وبالتنسيق مع شعبة استخبارات الفرقة واستخبارات لواء المشاة ٧١ والتي اكدت وجود تحرك لمجموعة اشخاص بالجانب السوري.
وبعد الاستعانة بالكاميرات الحرارية التي اوضحت تلك التحركات وتوجه المجموعة باتجاه اراضينا عبر قرية منيف الفيصل التابعة لناحية ربيعة المحاذية للحدود غربي نينوى.
وعلى ضوء ذلك وبالاشتراك مع قوة برية من الفوج الثاني لواء المشاة ٧١ تم نصب كمين للمتسللين في القرية المشار اليها والقبض عليهم .
حيث تبين انهم ٦ اشخاص يحملون الجنسية العراقية وكانوا قد غادروا العراق بطريقة غير مشروعة الى سوريا .
جرى بعدها تسليمهم للجهات المعنية لاتخاذ الاجراءات القانونية بحقهم.
