أعلن رئيس مجلس الوزراء السيد محمد شياع السوداني، صباح اليوم الأربعاء، عن إطلاق العمل في مشروع مدينة الجواهري السكنية الجديدة، في قضاء أبو غريب، غرب العاصمة بغداد، أحد مشاريع المدن الجديدة الخمس، التي تم الإعلان عنها ضمن ستراتيجية الحكومة لمعالجة أزمة السكن، وتخفيف الاكتظاظ عن مراكز المدن الكبرى.
جرى ذلك خلال حفل أقيم بالمناسبة حضره عدد من السادة الوزراء و أعضاء فريق تنفيذ المدن الجديدة، وأفراد من عائلة الشاعر الكبير الراحل محمد مهدي الجواهري، فضلاً عن ممثلي الشركات الصينية والعراقية المشترِكة بالتنفيذ.
وأكد سيادته أن الحكومة شخصت، منذ بداية مهامها، الخلل في أزمة السكن، وأعدت خططاً مدروسة لمعالجتها، انطوت على تشييد مدن سكنية متكاملة، وليست مجمعات، واختيار مواقع لها على أطراف بغداد والمحافظات، بعيداً عن مناطق الاكتظاظ.
وبين السيد رئيس مجلس الوزراء أنّ الحكومة أعلنت عن 5 مدن سكنية كمرحلة أولى، تُشيد في العاصمة بغداد وبابل وكربلاء ونينوى والأنبار، ولاحقاً سيتم الإعلان عن 10 مدن سكنية جديدة في محافظات أخرى، مؤكداً أن الهدف هو الوصول إلى 250- 300 ألف وحدة سكنية، تُستهدف من خلالها الطبقات الفقيرة والمتوسطة، كما سيكون هناك التزام بأسعار الوحدات السكنية لتبقى ثابتة.
وأشار السيد السوداني إلى أن مشروع مدينة الجواهري الجديدة سيتضمن، ولأول مرة، 25% من الأراضي المخدومة ستوزعها الحكومة بين المواطنين وفق آليات سيتم اعتمادها.
